Game Changer!!
November 16, 2024
For 19 of the past 20 riding seasons, I have had heated upper body (jacket liner/heated base layer, and heated gloves), but never heated lower body. I would layer up, and do my best, but after a period of time riding in cold weather (I live in Canada, and ride until the snow comes and stays), my legs and feet would always get cold, no matter what materials, or number layers I would wear. On top of that, the bulkiness of all those layers made it somewhat uncomfortable. So, last winter, after reading many reviews of these and other heated sock liners, I decided to give the Gerbings a try, along wiht their EX-Pro heated pants (I have a review of those here, as well). They connect to wires in the pant legs. All I can say is WOW!! I should have done this from the beginning!! I've been riding around in near and below freezing temps for hours at a time, and I am PERFECTLY warm and comfortable. Rather than attaching them to my Warm & Safe dual remote heat-troller, and having to adjust the heat to the pants and/or glove/and/or heated base layer, I bought a Warm & Safe single remote heat-troller so I can control the heat to the pants and socks independently of the upper body clothes. I have found that it would be better to be able to control the socks independently from the pants, but there is only one power wire that connects the pants and socks. I plan on running another wire down the legs of the pants, and running another dual remote heat-troller to control everything on it's own. That way I can really dial everything in perfectly. All in all, if you ride in very cold temperatures, I highly recommend these pants (and sock liners, too!)

Work great

These work great with just my regular everyday low cut boots or shoes really. Keeps my feet very warm. If I use them with my actual Milwaukee leather 11 inch riding boots they are almost too hot even on the low setting. I use them controlled by tourmaster synergy pro plus heated pants with the built in push button controller which has 3 heat settings. High, medium and low

These heated liners have been a game changer for me. My feet are always the first thing to get cold when riding. Now my feet stay nice and toasty warm. I can ride all day in below zero temps and still stay warm. I would recommend these to anyone that has cold feet when riding:-)

Work great however not form-fitting

Socks run on the smaller size and wished I had returned them for the next size up. They provide ample heat around the tops and bottoms of your feet to about about half way back. My last pair of heated socks were top of the toes heat only so these are much better for keeping my feet warm on 35-40F rides. They fit snug in my boot but I don't feel the wires much and there are no hot spots. Only wished they were more form fitting to a foot shape (toe box is cut straight across and the foot section is really narrow).
Pros
  • Good heat with no hot spots.
Cons
  • Not form fitting and run at least 1.5 - 2 sizes too small.

These are the nice liners, correct word liners) this is what I wanted so i could put a thin cotton under and on a 30, degree day nothing on top. On a 20 degree air temp. day.... something over the top of those two. Liners are a better option so as not to have to remove it when you get somewhere to walk around.
Cons
  • I wish these were taller over the calf socks. They are but come up a little short (two more inches is needed.
  • I think the Gerbing pant leg should plug from the inside not the outside of the pant so the plug doesn't have to be routed under the pant cuff to meet the sock.
