Not What I Expected
April 9, 2025
Bought the 2.0 in an XL. I’m 6’0 230. Liner generally fit ok as far as length except the sleeves. They came way too short midway between my elbow and wrist. It’s like they made it for Tyrannosaurus rex arms. Exchanged for an XL Long and the fit was better, sleeves where they are supposed to be. Liner itself in the XL is a bit large, not the snug fit of my previous 10 year old Gerbing liner. This liner is much thinner, and there are some improvements, like the back being a bit longer, and a button latched “belt” inside to pull the jacket closer to the body to maximize heat transfer. What I am not impressed with is the inner flap that lays beside the zipper. It’s about an inch wide and runs down the zipper. Most jackets have this on the outside, but this liner has it on the inside, and since it’s a much thinner liner, it gets caught in the zipper very easily, which makes unzipping a real pain when it gets caught up. You won’t realise it until you try to unzip it. I had to fight that 3 of the four times I put it on and zipped it up. I ended up using packing tape to keep it tucked back. The inner “belt” has four plastic buttons and is a good idea, but the first time I used it one of the plastic buttons broke. Three still hold it together, but they should have used metal ones instead. Heat wise, I found it a bit lacking compared to the liners of the past. Same heat zones as the standard thicker liner, just didn’t keep me as warm. I have ended up ordering the regular one in a large long instead. I’ll give credit for the warming store for returns and exchanges, but Gerbing could do much better for the price, especially considering it doesn’t come with the install kits that were the norm previously. I just don’t feel the quality is there.
Pros
- The idea of being thinner works great to fit under outer coats that actually fit you.
Cons
- Not as warm
- Flap inside, beside the zipper
- Plastic

It's good heat but the very first time I tried to take off the i side wind belt, the button breaks. Well sorry but it's very expensive and that is absolutely cheaply made! Not super happy about it. Guess if the socks would have fit better maybe I wouldn't be thinking wow, expensive but mediocre.
Pros
- Warm
Cons
- Kinda cheap for the money

I’m 6’2” 230lbs and the long tall fits perfectly. Does a great job as a wind breaker when not turned on and can ride on the highway in mid 30Fs with only a sweatshirt on over it. Does not restrict movement or feel bulky. I feel it should have included a heat controller at this price point though
Pros
- Lightweight
Cons
- Doesn

I really like this jacket. Works great and seems to be very well made. My only gripe is that I am 5' 11" and 155lbs so fairly skinny. The small size fits perfectly for a liner but the sleeves come to about 4 inches above my wrists. I tried the Medium-Long and the sleeves fit normal but the rest of the jacket was too big to be a liner. So had to stick with the Small size. Just wish they made a Small-Long. Also the sizing chart on the Gerbing website is more accurate than the one they have listed for this product.
Pros
- Heat is powerful and effective. Have tested and stayed warm in 35-40 degree riding. Well made. Seems like will be durable.
Cons
- Small size has sleeves which are too short I think.

This is my first purchase of Gerbing gear having bought some much more basic battery heated gloves in the past. I am completely thrilled with the Jacket Liner 2.0. It heats nearly instantly and gives a nice extra shot of warmth at the collar.
I use mine with heated gloves and pant liners on a touring motorcycle. Only thing is when I tried on the pants I ended up returning them for a larger size. So I can't comment on them yet.
I did get in a ride the other day in cold weather and the jacket liner was great. I tried things with my windscreen down and with it up. The heated liner handled things beautifully, if I started to feel the cold all I had to do was adjust the liner temp. Easy. This thing could run highway speeds way down below freezing.
BTW, I have been an absolute pain to the nice folks at The Warming Store. I swapped out three items so far for wrong sizes. They have been completely accomodating and professional about it. Top customer care. Awesome.
Pros
- Simple setup, quick heat. I converted 2 heat zones to 3 by ordering an extra single controller to operate my heated pant liners. The normal design with the dual controller combines the pants and gloves which isn't good for me. I have cold hands so my gloves are usually on hotter than the rest of my gear.
- And my bike has a good bit of warm air coming off it's engine so I don't need a ton of pants heat. But I want it available when the time comes, maybe at higher speed. I always need my gloves on a higher setting so the extra controller allows independent control between my gloves and my pants. We will see, I haven't tried this setup yet. It's still on the way.
